Feel at home in a Ford Taunus

Quite a lot to do, untill it's time to move in.

Painting the Walls

Whereever there's orange primer, white sealing or black rust-dissolver, you will want to overpaint it in a color matching your car's body.

Some places are nice to reach,...

...and others are less ergonomic.

Nothing compares to original paint.
The crossbar and half of the entry is unpainted.

By the way: The color-code on the vehicle identification plate simply didn't exist. And there are two shades of original "sirius-red-metallic". Quality control was appearently invented after 1980....

All holes closed with a high-quality tape.

Laying out Tiles

Teroson tar tiles (anti-vibration) on the floor, to replace the original pieces removed for welding.

Hockey puck to distribute the pressure .

Here's one of the hook that keeps the anti-noise foam coating in front of your feet from sliding down.

This is -contrary to the looks- a comfortable working position:
All the hooks and holes are plainly visible that way.

Step Noise Damping

All the floor coverd with tar tiles....

...and the foam mats will complete Ford's propagated "noise swallowing zone" (how did they call the "Schallschluckwanne" in the Cortina?) .

A fifth gear would have done the same, for highway speeds, but that was only avaliable in Argentinia.

Carpet Cover

Once the Gear lever and the hand brake are toiled through the matching holes, the nasty work is done.

Furniture

Furniture packer at work...

That's the one to start with:
It's the only bolt for the seats going through a round bore, all others are bigger.

Happy home owner: All done!
